POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a multi-task position requiring computer, telephone and reception skills. Exam scheduling, pulling and filing of jackets which are routed to correct areas.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Reception-Checks in patients-first contact with department.
  2. Schedules appointments for 6 different areas.
  3. Busy telephone area. Many situations handled or routed to proper person.
  4. Performs filing of many jackets as well as ensuring reports are correctly routed and filed.
  5. Distributes work to proper areas of department.
  6. Reports any problems so they may be handled properly.
  7. Performs other duties as required.

CONFIDENTIALITY:

  • All patient information is confidential.

MENTAL APPLICATION:

Most work is governed by established protocol. Any special situation is to be brought to supervisor/administration. Stress level medium-high. Must be able to handle a number of duties at the same time.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

High probability for errors.  Must check information to ensure correct patient exam is being done.

CONTACTS:

High contact with public/staff.  Must be very professional.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Can be a stressful position and demanding. Long hours may be possible.

EQUIPMENT OPERATION:

Computer, telephone, and typewriter.

EDUCATION:

  • Required:
    High School/GED
  • Preferred:
    Computer/secretarial
EXPERIENCE:

  • Required:
    Clerical/customer service background helpful.
  • Preferred:
    1 year in secretarial /receptionist experience a plus.
ABILITIES:

  • Required:
    Must be computer literate, have excellent telephone skills, must be able to type and have a courteous attitude.

Work involves varied activities which include standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting. The job calls for manual and finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and occasionally lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range are both required.
