POSITION SUMMARY:

To provide paraprofessional support within the practice area of IV Therapy.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Review patients medical records to determine reason for the visit that day.
  • Greet and escort patients to the exam room; take new patient history; ensure exam and utility rooms are neat, clean and well stocked. Assist the physician with exam and take vital signs.
  • Focus on the care of patients receiving intravenous (IV) therapy, or medications and f fluids via injection. Ensure patients receive the correct IV for the treatment ordered, select and manage the appropriate device and monitor and evaluate the patient’s response to the IV therapy.  Monitor patients, manage their tubing, maintain arterial catheters, and observe for potential drug complications.  Must possess keen assessment and monitoring skills, be highly skilled at performing venipuncture, possess knowledge of different IV medications, fluids, and blood products, aware of infection control precautions, and be competent in working with a variety of different vascular access devices associated with infusions such as peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC) and midline access catheters.3.   • Maintain confidential status of medical records in secure location; research medical records for information, prepare charts for surgery patients; ensure all charges are done on a daily basis and sent to charge posting.4. WORKING CONDITIONS:

EDUCATION:

Required: High School Diploma or GED
RN degree for an accredited school (FL)

EXPERIENCE:

Preferred: 1 year of experience within the last 3 years 1 year of experience within the last 3 years Basic Life Support (BLS)

The job calls for manual and finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and occasionally lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range are both required.
